Occupational Health Testing

DOT physicals, fit-for-duty exams, respirator fit testing, audiometry, immunizations, and other occupational health services. Coordinated through the same compliance platform that manages your screening program.

Exams & Testing

Occupational health covers a range of physical exams and functional tests required by regulation, organizational policy, or specific job hazards. PSBI coordinates these services through its nationwide clinic and collection network.

DOT Physical Exams

Federal DOT physicals performed by certified medical examiners for CDL holders and other DOT safety-sensitive positions. Compliant with FMCSA medical certification requirements.

Common Triggers:

Initial certification, biennial renewal, return to duty

Pre-Placement Physical Exams

Physical exams conducted before a new hire starts work to confirm the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the position.

Common Triggers:

New hire, job transfer, role change

Fit-for-Duty Testing

Evaluations to determine whether an employee can safely perform job duties after an injury, illness, or absence. May include functional capacity evaluations and job-specific testing.

Common Triggers:

Return from leave, injury recovery, medical clearance

Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)

Spirometry and lung function testing required for employees exposed to respiratory hazards or required to wear respirators. Establishes baseline and monitors changes over time.

Common Triggers:

Initial baseline, annual surveillance, exposure event

Audiometric Testing

Hearing tests for employees in noise-exposed environments. Required under OSHA's Hearing Conservation Program when noise exposure exceeds action levels.

Common Triggers:

Initial baseline, annual monitoring, threshold shift

Respirator Fit Testing

Quantitative or qualitative testing to ensure respirator seals properly to the individual's face. Required annually under OSHA regulations for respirator users.

Common Triggers:

Initial assignment, annual recertification, equipment change

Health Screening & Immunization Programs

Beyond physical exams and functional testing, occupational health includes disease screening, immunity verification, and immunization programs - particularly for healthcare, education, and corrections.

TB Testing

Tuberculosis screening via skin test (TST) or blood test (IGRA) for healthcare workers, correctional staff, and other at-risk populations.

Titers & Immunity Verification

Blood tests confirming immunity to specific diseases (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella) required for healthcare workers and certain regulated positions.

Immunization Programs

Flu shots, Hepatitis B series, tetanus boosters, and other immunizations required by organizational policy or regulatory mandate.

Exposure-Related Testing

Testing triggered by workplace exposure events: bloodborne pathogen exposure, chemical exposure, hazardous material incidents.

When Occupational Health Testing Is Triggered

Occupational health requirements are event-driven. Tests are triggered by specific employment events, not on an arbitrary schedule.

At Hire

Pre-placement physicals, baseline testing (PFT, audiometry), initial TB screening, and immunization verification before the new hire starts work.

Annual / Periodic

Annual audiometry, respirator fit recertification, TB screening renewals, and periodic surveillance exams required by OSHA programs.

Role Change

When an employee transfers to a position with different physical demands or hazard exposures requiring new baseline testing or additional certifications.

Exposure Event

Post-exposure testing triggered by workplace incidents: needlestick injuries, chemical spills, noise overexposure, respiratory hazard events.

Available via API & ATS integrations. Occupational health orders can be initiated through the same system that manages background checks and drug screening. Results are tracked alongside other compliance requirements for each employee.

How Pricing Works

Occupational health pricing varies by exam type, clinic location, and specific tests required. PSBI service fees are transparent and consistent. Clinic fees are passed through at cost based on the specific services performed.
