Background Checks
Investigative record searches covering court records, driving history, fingerprint-based identity checks, and public online presence. Configured by role, not sold in one-size packages.
What Background Checks Cover
"Background check" is a broad term that covers several distinct search types. PSBI doesn't sell a single background check product - we configure the right combination of searches based on position requirements, industry regulations, and organizational policy.
Court Records
County, state, and federal court record searches configured by address history, role requirements, and regulatory standards. The foundation of most background check programs.
Learn MoreMotor Vehicle Records (MVR)
Driving record reports pulled directly from all 50 state DMV databases. License status, violations, suspensions, and endorsements with ongoing recheck scheduling.
Learn MoreFingerprinting
Fingerprint-based identity verification through FBI and state databases. Required for regulated industries, licensing boards, and government positions.
Learn MoreSocial Media Screening
Structured, EEOC-compliant review of public online presence. Reports only on legally permissible categories - not a DIY Google search that creates legal exposure.
Learn MoreWhen You Need Background Checks
Background checks apply to more situations than most organizations realize. If someone has access to your facilities, systems, finances, or people - they probably need screening.
Pre-Employment Screening
Screen candidates before extending an offer. The most common trigger for background checks, and often the starting point for a broader compliance program.
Regulated Industries
Healthcare, financial services, childcare, transportation, education, and government - industries where background checks are required by statute or regulation.
Volunteer & Contractor Screening
Background checks aren't just for W-2 employees. Volunteers, contractors, and vendors with access to facilities, systems, or vulnerable populations need screening too.
Ongoing Compliance
Background checks at hire are just the beginning. Ongoing monitoring and periodic rescreening keep your organization compliant after day one.
How Background Checks Work at PSBI
Most screening providers sell pre-packaged tiers (Basic, Standard, Premium). PSBI configures background checks by position - each role gets exactly the searches it needs based on compliance requirements and organizational policy.
Define Position Requirements
Set up compliance rules for each position type: what searches are required, what regulations apply, what your policy mandates. This is done once per position - not per candidate.
Order or Automate
Initiate background checks manually, through ATS integration, or via API. The system applies the position's compliance rules automatically - no need to pick searches from a menu each time.
Results and Ongoing Compliance
Results are returned as they complete. If ongoing monitoring or periodic rescreening is configured for the position, the system handles that automatically after the initial check.
Available via API & ATS integrations. Background checks can be initiated directly from your applicant tracking system or HRIS. No portal switching, no duplicate data entry.
Background Checks That Don't Stop at Hire
The initial background check is just the first step. PSBI connects pre-hire screening to ongoing compliance - criminal monitoring, periodic rescreening, and license tracking - so your program doesn't end when onboarding does.
Criminal Monitoring
Continuous alerts when new criminal records appear after the initial background check.
Learn MorePeriodic Rescreening
Scheduled re-runs of background checks at defined intervals for comprehensive coverage.
